On Friday, the Russian chief of the radiation, chemical and biological defense troops, Major-General Igor Kirillov, said that the OPCW missions in Syria violate the provisions of the Convention on the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.

"The remote investigation, as well as the collection, analysis and use of documents obtained without the departure of specialists to the places of alleged use of chemical weapons, directly contradicts the provisions of the convention," Kirillov said at a joint briefing of the Foreign and Defense Ministries.

In addition he did not rule out that the western investigation of the April incident in the city of the Duma risks ending with another accusatory report with the presentation of pseudo evidence.

According to Kirillov, on April 17, a mined chemical laboratory and a stock of chemicals that terrorists used to make explosives and poisonous substances were found in the Duma. "We draw your attention to the fact that parts of the installation and reagents are manufactured in the countries of the European Union and North America," Kirillov said. All those facts, he said, indicate that what happened in the Duma is another political staging of the West.

In addition, on the eve of the special session of the Conference of the OPCW Member States, convened at the initiative of the United Kingdom, the United States and France and those countries "dragged out" another incident, but none of them has any factual basis that would testify to Russia's involvement in the incident.

At the same time, Kirillov stressed that the OPCW also refuses to send experts to the liberated Syrian territories to study militants’ stocks of poisonous weapons. According to him, over 40 tons of poisonous substances were found on the territories liberated from the terrorists. The republican authorities repeatedly demanded the OPCW to send its experts to that region, but they constantly faced a refusal. The organization explained it by the lack of safe conditions for the work of specialists.

It will not be difficult to compare the well-known "The Skripal case" with Syrian case, in which Russia is also accused without proof. It is about Moscow's involvement in the poisoning of the former Colonel GRU and his daughter with a nerve agent that was allegedly developed in Russia. Now the Western countries are trying at least somehow to "tie" this "fact" with the incidents in Syrian Duma.

Thus, the United States, Great Britain, France and their allies again mislead the public and want to confront Russia, Kirillov said. "The countries use staging with the use of chemical weapons and thus accuse Syria of violating the convention and Russia of helping official Damask." Against this backdrop, a campaign has been organized to turn the OPCW into a politicized structure endowed with the authority to issue tough accusatory verdicts against states and their leaders " , - said Kirillov.

Meanwhile, it should be recalled that it was Russia that put forward an initiative to conduct an international investigation of the incident involving experts of the OPCW. And it is the UK in every way resists the initiative.
