Military Experts Accuse US of Violating Strategic Stability
The US is trying to violate strategic parity with Russia in order to achieve military superiority, Sergey Sudakov, professor of the Academy of Military Science, said. According to him, Washington wants to produce a fundamentally new type of weapon, and not only to modernize the available means of delivery. However, the Treaty on the Elimination of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty hampers the implementation of these plans. No wonder recently politicians in Washington have started talking about denouncing this agreement.
Meanwhile, the White House's policy dealt a blow to the image of the United States as a country that fulfills international treaties, expert stressed. During his visit to Poland in July, US President Donald Trump signed an agreement on the supply of American weapons to the Polish side. According to the agreements, the Pentagon will give to Warsaw with air defense communications facilities, man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADS), and the MIM-104 Patriot surface-to-air missile systems. Moreover, in the framework of NATO exercises in Eastern Europe, Patriot missile batteries were also deployed on the territory of Lithuania.
In addition, the military analyst added that the US suspended, but did not abandon plans to deploy Aegis ballistic missile defense systems (ABMD) SM-3 in Eastern Europe. This armament can intercept targets in space at an altitude of 250 kilometers. Three such rocket launchers already carry combat duty at the Deveselu Base in Romania.
Russia not only fulfills the terms of the INF Treaty and calls on all states that possess nuclear weapons to join it. It turns out that Russia fulfills international obligations unilaterally. At the same time Washington by its actions violates the strategic stability in the world, expert resumed.
