Representatives of the White House said that US President Donald Trump is planning to meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin during the G20 summit in Hamburg next week.

"US President Donald Trump was expected to meet with many world leaders, including President Vladimir Putin of Russia, Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany, Prime Minister Theresa May of the United Kingdom, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan, President Moon of South Korea, President Xi Jinping of China", National Security Advisor Gen. Herbert McMaster told reporters.

He said that President Trump instructed his administration to work out the issue of developing cooperation with Russia in areas that are in the common interests.

In his opinion, there are a lot of problems in the world that fall into that category," including the North Korean nuclear issue and the fight against transnational terrorist organizations. The civil war in Syria was also mentioned, including issues related to de-escalation, defeating Islamic State (terrorist group, outlawed in Russia), and humanitarian efforts.

Director of the National Economic Council Gary Cohn stressed that there is no specific agenda for the meeting between Putin and Trump. According to him, the president will discuss important topics for them. "We are still finalizing schedules. So agendas for meetings have not been set up at this point", he added.
