Shoygu suggested signing "roadmap" of military cooperation between Russia and China
Russian Defense Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoygu proposed signing a "roadmap" for the development of military cooperation between Russia and China for 2017-2020.
"Our experts have prepared a roadmap for military development between Russia and China for 2017-2020, I propose that we sign it today", Shoigu said during a bilateral meeting with the Chinese Defense Minister Colonel-General Chang Wanquan.
Shoigu noted that Russia and China would together "protect peace and strengthen international security". He also stressed that the relations between two countries "are at a high level and steadily develop". It is promoted by the relations of leaders of two states. "The recent meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping within the framework of the international forum "One Belt, One Way" has given a powerful impulse to our work this year", Shoygu said.
He also stressed that the high intensity of the Russian-Chinese negotiations "testifies to a constructive dialogue on the whole range of problems of global and regional security".
In conclusion, the Russian Defense Minister expressed his confidence that the meeting with the Chinese Minister of Defense "will further strengthen the bilateral strategic partnership".
