Central Asian International Environmental Forum is held in Turkmenistan
The Central Asian International Environmental Forum "Initiative for Cooperation in Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development in Central Asia" is held in Turkmenistan. The three-day forum is dedicated to climate change and rational water use.
This forum is held for the first time and organized by the State Committee for Environmental Protection and Land Resources of Turkmenistan and the Regional Ecological Center of Central Asia (RECCA). This meeting is timed to the World Environment Day.
The meeting in Ashgabat brought together leaders and leading experts from profile ministries and departments, scientific and educational centers, environmental activists from 13 countries.
It was discussed the need to take measures aimed at strengthening the capacity of the countries of Central Asia to adapt to climate change. Related issues are connected with rational water use, so the forum's program unites water and environmental topics.
RECCA is a non-governmental organization established by Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, the United Nations Development Program and the European Commission.
