"Werewolves" from SBU
On August 11 the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) announced on the arrest of the deputy head of the investigation department of SBU in Donetsk region while he was transferring top secret materials to a "Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) agent."
According to the SBU press-service, the detainee was collecting information about the security service's operational performance during special operations, criminal proceedings that are in the investigative department of the Donetsk SBU, as well as personal data of the pro-Ukrainian residents of Donetsk region.
The director of the Strategic Communications Agency Oleg Bondarenko commented on the "DPR agent" within the SBU ranks' detention to the "Russian peacekeeper".
According to Bondarenko, Ukrainian security forces' desire to cooperate with the People's Republics can be easily explained by these people's personal interest of sometime returning to the territory controlled by the DPR and LPR.
"Now, when Russian passports are being issued in Donbas, people realize that this area won't become a part of Ukraine. Therefore, a person who sees the prospects for his further development in the territory of Donbass, respectively chooses cooperation with the legitimate government of Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republic. A if one considers them "separatists" or "terrorists", then there is nothing for him to do," - said the expert.
According to Bondarenko, a larger percentage of people from Donbass, who formally work for Ukrainian authorities, are interested in returning to their homeland. To do this, they need to somehow "prove themselves", for example, in collaboration with representatives of the DPR and the LPR. "However, it is worth noting that in each case - it is a personal choice of a person", - the expert believes.
