Russia will deliver more than 140,000 tonnes of cargo for the troops deployed in the Arctic, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Gen. Dmitry Bulgakov said Thursday.

"During 2015 we plan to deliver more than 140,000 tonnes of various supplies," Bulgakov told journalists.

He added that in order to improve the region's environmental situation the ships bringing the cargo for the Russian troops in the Arctic would be taking all the metal scrap and solid waste from the islands in the region on their way back.
