US Allocates $25Mln to Support the Army of Ukraine
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense spokesperson said at a briefing on Friday that the USA has allocated about $25 million to help fund the Ukrainian army.
"Currently, US financial and technical assistance to the Ukrainian army amounts to about $25 million," spokesperson Viktoria Kushnir said. US Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt announced Thursday that US aid to Ukraine stood at about $22 million, a part of which will be spent on the reconstruction of the areas hardest hit by the conflict in the southeast of the country. According to UN figures, the number of casualties in the war-torn Donbas region is over 6,000 people.
During the latest meeting of the Contact Group on Ukrainian reconciliation, which was held on Wednesday, the participants formed four working sub-groups and managed to establish specific timelines for their work on resolving the crisis.
