Poroshenko Ready To Introduce Martial Law
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said that he is ready to introduce martial law in the country if the conflict escalates.
"If the escalation continues, I'm ready to introduce martial law and I'll have the support of the Rada," Poroshenko said, adding that the main reasons for refraining from introducing martial law are potential negative consequences for the economy and restraints on democracy.
"I'm not doing it yet, because it implies restraints on freedom and rights and threatens development of the economy. Who would deal with a country at war? In the coming months we are expecting to attract billions in investments," Poroshenko said.
