War and Humanitarian Faces of Ukraine Catastrophe
The ongoing war in Ukraine led to a grave humanitarian crisis. More than 2000 people were killed. Eastern Ukraine residents badly need food, medicines and other essentials which are being delivered by the Russian aid convoy. The hostilities still go on and reveal two sides of the situation - war and a humanitarian one.
U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is constantly holding talks on military support for Kiev with Ukrainian Defense Minister Valeriy Heletey. They discussed on August 20 via telephone the status of ongoing deliveries of United States military assistance to Ukraine: barbed wire helmets, sleeping bags and generators. The rebels continue opposing Ukrainian forces gaining more weapons.
The war had already worsened the social situation. People who couldn't flee are forced to survive.
The Eastern Ukraine faces humanitarian catastrophe. Meanwhile Ukraine's Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said both the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank are expected to give a two-billion-dollar fund to Kiev to help rebuild the infrastructure of East of the country. The United States are to provide Ukraine with almost seven million dollars for reconstruction east of the country.
But it's high time to save ordinary people right now, maintain security of Russian aid route towards Lugansk and leave aside existing discrepancies. In the long run a human being's life is a real value. The point is with operation of Ukrainian forces goes on there will be nobody to help.
