The U.S. to continue to arm Syrian rebels
Washington has made a decision to resume small arms supplies to Syrian rebels. The White House press service reports that supplies will continue until the end of the 2014 financial year.
It is planned that weapons will be received by groups operating in southern Syria. They will be supplied small arms, as well as anti-tank guided missiles.
The Congress has approved budgeting of the Syrian rebels support program having "adopted classified amendments to the war appropriations bill." Date of amendment is not reported.
Recall that now in Montreux there are talks under way about peaceful settlement of the internal conflict in Syria. Among negotiators are representatives of legitimate authorities of the country, as well as representatives of opposition groups. The talks are taking place in the presence of the UN-Arab League envoy on Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi, and diplomats of the leading world powers.
