Shoigu held talks with Minister of National Defence of Greece
Russian Defense Minister, Army General Sergei Shoigu said that the military and military-technical cooperation between Russia and Greece has good prospects.
?Our relations have gained a new momentum, against all the odds that surround today Greece and Europe as a whole. We have an encouraging looks at the future. We hope that in the course of today?s talks we will achieve new results, new heights,? said Shoigu, before the talks with the Minister of National Defence Dimitrios Avramopoulos.
According to the Russian minister, lately, the relationship between Moscow and Athens has intensified. Shoigu recalled that recently Greece has been visited by the Russian Foreign Minister, and later ? by the head of the upper house of parliament.
As the head of the RF Defense Minister, military and military-technical cooperation between the two countries was fixed by agreement of the military departments. ?Next year we will celebrate 20 years of the date of this agreement,? said Shoigu.
Avramopoulos, in turn, said that relations between Greece and Russia ?are hearty, deep and historically formed.? ?Today we are taking another step in the development of our relations in the field of defense. I am confident that our bilateral negotiations will confirm the high level of our relations,? said the Greek Minister.
He also stressed that ?Russia for Greece is a close friend and a strategic partner with whom we have common approaches and common tasks in a variety of regional and international aspects.?
