Somali authorities offered an amnesty for pirates in exchange for hostages
Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, President of Somalia said the authorities are offering amnesty and job opportunity for those who have only recently started to filibuster, in exchange for the release of hostages.
According to him, so it was possible to release six hostages. in the short term the Somali authorities expect to release 24 more hostages and two vessels.
"The problem concerns their leaders. Some of them were found guilty in absentia, they are persecuted by Interpol, others are subjected to judicial process in other countries. We neither negotiate with them, nor offer amnesty. Amnesty is for the young," said H.Mohamud.
