Iran does not need nuclear weapons - Ahmadinejad

09.11.2012 10:10

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at a democratic forum in Indonesia said that the Islamic Republic does not need nuclear weapons. He stressed that Iran is not working on the atomic bomb development, because it can protect themselves in other ways. In his view, ?the world has long ago changed, and nuclear weapons are now useless.?

?Americans know that the Iranian people do not need any nuclear bomb. Our nation has lived seven thousand years without such a need. I'll call you two reasons why even now we do not need the atomic bomb: first, the era of nuclear weapons has passed, it will not help to protect the country. Secondly, Europe and the U.S. do have such kind of weapons. But has the atomic bomb helped them to solve the economic crisis and political contradictions? Humanity has reached a level of development, when the atomic bomb is useless,? said Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
