The UN is Concerned about the Situation in Libya

Ian Martin, UN Special Representative for Libya has expressed concern about new armed conflicts in this country.

Speaking at the UN Security Council, he said that in the country clashes between the current authorities? armed wings and the remaining supporters of Muammar Gaddafi have become more frequent.

He said that at the bottom of the immediate situation are ?weak and sometimes absent state institutions, which is aggravated by the long absence of political parties and civil society organizations and makes the period of transition in the country even more difficult.?

In turn, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay said that in camps after the recent civil war there are still about eight and a half thousand prisoners. There is information that many of them are subjected to torture.
